Hello crafty friends,

Today I am celebrating Thanksgiving using my new favorite crafty technique – the BLACKOUT TECHNIQUE. This is a fun techniques where you use beautiful embossing folders to create texture and dimension on your card fronts. Instead of having the raised embossed pattern on the front of your projects, you use the debossed side of the panel and add some fun colors.

Here’s a look at the card I created today –

I began by embossing an A2 size panel using the latest Fluted Forest Decor Embossing Folder by SSS. I love this embossing folder which creates a beautifully detailed panel featuring pinecones, leaves, flowers and branches. Not just for fall theme projects, I think this would be. perfect for cozy winter cards too.

I started by adding some colors to my background. I ink blended using the SSS Pawsitively Saturated inks in the shades of greens, browns, reds and oranges – Pucker, Sherbet, Mandarine, Cherry, Watermelon, Pine, Field, Cappuccino, Mocha and Woodsy.

Once I was done with the ink blending, I used the Mocha Ink Pad and swiped it all over the panel. The fun part about these inks are they look a lot darker when wet, but once they dry, they tone down a bit. I love the brown muted effect ths gives to my background panel.

I trimmed this panel to be slightly smaller than an a2 size card and adhered it onto a white side folding card base. I love the white border around this gorgeous embossed panel.

For the sentiments, I chose 3 strips from the Reverse Gratitude Sentiments. To finish off this project, I added some of the Metallic Tones Pawsitively Dazzling Gems.

I love how gorgeous this card turned out. I will definitely be recreating this using some fun holiday and christmas colors.
