Hello crafty friends,

Today I am here, cheering for a dear friend, Nicki Baxley, who has reached an incredible milestone. With lots of hardwork and dediction, Nicki Hearts Cards has crossed over 15k subscribers on her Youtube channel (well almost at 16k as on today!). Isn’t that absolutely amazing.

A little about my story with Nicki before I show you what I created to celebrate this milestone with her.
I met Nicki virtually, when I joined Kat Scrappiness team as a guest designer. She was one of the team members who made me feel right at home, since this was the first time I was being part of a design team ever. We chatted on so many different occasions and slowly our chats were not just work related but I connected with Nicki on a very personal level as well.

Almost 2 years later of just chats, giving tips and trick on how I can create better content and card exchanges, I finally got a chance to meet Nicki in Ohio for the SSS Create 2024 event. She’s even more adorable and fun in person.

I must tell, Nicki is one of my very first friends that I made in my crafty journey and I am so proud that she has come so far. All her hard work and perseverance has paid off and she has succesfully managed to reach this milestone. All my best wishes and prayers to you dear friend.. and hoping to be a part of not just the 15k milestone, but also 100k very soon!

Congratulations Nicki!!

Now here’s a look at the card that I created to celebrate this victory.

I wanted to create something as bright and colorful as Nicki herself is. I think the contagious smile she has reminds me of these bright cheerful rainbow colors.

I used the Party Candles Stencils, which is a layering stencil. To bring out the rainbow colors, I used some fun and striking SSS Pawsitively Saturated Inks.

For the first layer, which is just the base layer of the candles I used the inks in the following order : Sweets, Blush, Lemonade, Limelicious, Surf and Violet.

For the second layer, which adds details to our candles, I used the darker shades of ink from the same color family as I did for the base layer : Cherry, Grapefruit, Sunbeam, Pearfection, Ocean and Iris.

For the flames, I used Citrine and Sherbet.

Well a congratualtions card is never complete without some sparkle. I added the Fairy Dust Stencil Paste by Lawn Fawn on the second layer of the stencil, covering the inked areas, thereby creating a beautiful shine on our candles and the flames.

For my sentiment, I used the etched “Congratulations” sentiment label by Tim Holtz and mounted it over the candles.

I added some shine and glam on this absolutely colorful card project using the Fairy Dust Confetti Mdix by Kat Scrappiness.
