Hello crafty friends,
Blackout technique is one of my favorite techniques to add dimension and some character to an embossed background. I took mine a step further this time, by adding a strip of vellum. I added a fun Santa Claus to make it a perfect Christmas card.
Here’s a closer look at the card –

I started by die cutting the Santa using some specialty card stocks. I have the Snow White Velvet Cardstock by SSS and some fun shiny red and silver card stocks by Your Paper Insider.

I used the Faceted Snowflakes Embossing Folder for my background. I used the debossed side of the panel and swiped my ink pad all over this background. I used the SSS Pawsitively Saturated Ink in the shade Galaxy for that bright blue background. I love the contrast between the blue and the white snowflakes.
To tone down the blue and pop the santa focal point, I decided to add a strip of vellum. I feel the vellum not just pops the focal point, but also brings your eyes to focus on those gorgeous snowflakes too.
Next, I stamped the “Merry Christmas” sentiment from the Peaceful Trees Stamp Set by SSS and cut it using the coordinating die. I heat embossed the sentiment using White Embossing Powder.

I added a final touch of bling using the Prism Pawsitively Dazzling Gems.
I love how this card turned out. Absolutely magical! Check out the Youtube Video, where I show you how I created this card project.
