Hey crafty friends!

I’m so excited to share today’s project with you—two gorgeous cards made using just one die! Not only will I be highlighting one of my all-time favorite color combinations, but there’s a fun bonus in store too. Alongside a clean and simple design, I’ve also created a playful shaker card to inspire you.

This card is part of the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #615, which hosts bi-weekly challenges with creative themes. This week, we’re diving into a color challenge that asks you to use pink, orange, and white on your projects. Be sure to tag your creations on the CIC Instagram page—we’d love to see what you make!

Let’s take a close look at the card that I created for this challenge.

For today’s cardmaking session, I began with a clean white panel and die-cut a butterfly right in the center. This panel was set aside for later—perfect for the second card in this set—while I focused on the beautiful butterfly die-cuts.

To bring these butterflies to life, I used the Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Inks in the shades Sherbet, Pucker, Rose, and Sweets. This combo has quickly become one of my favorites—so vibrant and cheerful! These colorful butterflies would serve as the focal point for my first card.

For the background, I wanted to keep things simple yet textured. I reached for the SSS Woven Embossing Folder, which added just the right amount of dimension and elegance. Before adhering the butterflies and sentiment, I splattered a bit of black watercolor over the panel for a touch of playful contrast—adding that fun, artsy element to an otherwise clean design. I then arranged the butterflies and paired them with a crisp letterpress sentiment strip to complete the look.

Now, onto Card #2—our bonus shaker card!

Using the same ink colors, I blended them onto a second piece of cardstock cut slightly smaller than the original die-cut panel. After adding acetate to the back of the butterfly window, I popped up the panel with foam tape to give space for the shaker bits to move freely.

For the shaker elements, I used the Sparkling Snow Glitter Sequin Mix, which added the perfect touch of sparkle. I finished this card with some faux splatter detail on the background and a simple stamped sentiment to let the shaker shine.

I love how beautiful both these cards turned out. This is a set that can definitely be created in a bunch of different color combinations. You could also use this technique of 2 for 1 cards using any focal point die that you might have in your stash.

I’m absolutely thrilled with how both of these cards turned out! They’re simple, elegant, and full of color—and the best part is, this design can easily be customized with any color palette you love. The two-for-one technique is such a great way to stretch your supplies, and it works beautifully with any focal point die you have in your stash. I hope this inspires you to give it a try and create a few sets of your own!
