hello crafty friends,
There’s something timeless about a clean and simple birthday card. With just the right elements, you can create a design that feels both elegant and thoughtful without being overly complicated. For today’s project, I’m featuring supplies from the brand-new Catherine Pooler Release in collaboration with Sizzix. This collection offers versatile dies, stamps, and coordinating sets that make it easy to craft beautiful cards with ease. Let me walk you through how I put this sweet birthday card together.

I began by creating a circular window in the center of a crisp white cardstock panel. Using the Border Party Circles Die, I added a playful pattern within that window to set the stage for my design. Around the circle, I stamped birthday sentiments from the Overarching Sentiment Stamp Set, creating a lovely frame of words that tied everything together.
Next, I worked on my focal point—a butterfly from the Bright Butterflies Stamp Set. This set is wonderfully versatile, offering both base shapes and decorative patterns to layer. I stamped my butterfly onto white cardstock, then used the coordinating die to cut it out. To add contrast, I also die-cut the butterfly body from black cardstock.

To give my focal image a grounding element, I softly inked a die-cut circle in a subtle shade of green. This pop of color added depth without overshadowing the butterfly itself. Before assembling the layers, I stamped a delicate heart trail for the butterfly, allowing it to overlap both the inked circle and the white panel for added movement and flow.

When it came time to assemble, I adhered the white panel to a light green card base that perfectly matched the inked circle. The die-cut circle was lifted slightly with thin foam squares, adding dimension. For the butterfly, I glued the center body flat to the circle while gently raising the wings with foam squares to give it that natural, airy effect.

I chose to keep this card free of glitter or extra embellishments, letting the clean lines and simple layers shine on their own. The result is a fresh and elegant birthday card that’s both easy to recreate and beautiful in its simplicity. I absolutely love how this design turned out—it’s proof that sometimes less really is more!
