Hello crafty friends! Today I’m sharing a clean and simple birthday card design that’s perfect for beginners and experienced crafters alike. Using just a few stamps, some beautiful inks, and a little sparkle, you can create a cheerful card that works beautifully as a single-layer design—or pop it up for a bit of dimension. This layout is also great if you want to mass-produce cards for birthdays or other celebrations.

I started by creating the sky scene using the Birthday Blitz Stamp Set from the new September Card Kit by SSS. The set includes a sun, clouds, flowers, heart accents, and a striped path that can serve as a hill or a water stream. I stamped each element separately using shades from the Positively Saturated Ink Collection. I kept the design very simple with single-color stamping, which gives the card a fresh, clean look while remaining beginner-friendly.

For the hill, I used the green shade Perfection, stamped along the bottom of my panel using a Sizzix stencil and stamp tool for stability. I filled a small gap in the lower right corner to make the hillside appear continuous. The flowers were stamped in Watermelon and double-stamped to make them pop against the green background. I finished the scene with a small smiley face stamped in black on the center of the sun.

Once the scene was ready, I stamped the sentiment “Love to you on your birthday” in the open space, using a grid transparency sheet to ensure perfect alignment. I trimmed the panel to 4 x 5 ¼ inches and popped it up on a light grey card base for contrast, using foam tape. To add a touch of sparkle, I decorated the flower centers with Metallic Tones Positively Dazzling Gems.

This clean and simple birthday card is a perfect example of how a few stamps, beautiful inks, and minimal embellishments can create a bright and cheerful design. It’s ideal as a single-layer card for easy mass production, or you can add dimension by mounting it on a card base. I hope this tutorial inspires you to try a clean, colorful, and beginner-friendly card design in your next craft session!
