Hello crafty friends! Today, I’m so excited to share a fun fair–themed easel card I created using the Simon Says Stamp September 2025 Birthday Blitz Card Kit. This project features two playful focal points—a Ferris wheel and a popcorn bucket—set against a cheerful polka-dot background. What makes it even more special is that it’s an interactive easel card, perfect to keep on display for a birthday celebration or just to spread some joy. And the best part? No stamping required—this one is all about die cutting, layering, and paper piecing!

I drew inspiration for this card from the Washington State Fair, which is celebrating 125 years of traditions, fun, and unforgettable memories. What better way to capture that festive spirit than with a Ferris wheel and popcorn—two classics you just can’t skip at the fair?

For the background, I chose patterned paper from the Simple Stories Fun Times collection, included in the kit. It was tough to pick because every sheet was so gorgeous, but I went with the darker paper scattered with colorful polka dots—it felt playful and added just the right amount of contrast. I trimmed it down to fit my standard A2 base.

To create the easel mechanism, I used a top-folding A2 card base made from sturdy 110lb cardstock. I scored the front panel at the 2-inch mark and folded it inward to form the easel. This larger base gives strong support for the oversized focal elements and ensures the card can stand proudly on display.

Next came the stars of the show—the Ferris wheel and the Poppin’ Corn bucket. I die cut all the small pieces in fun colors, mixing cardstock from the kit with some from my stash. The Ferris wheel cars in soft pinks and teals, the bold red popcorn bucket, and a glittery heart in the wheel’s center gave everything a lively, festive feel. I even doubled up the Ferris wheel base for extra sturdiness since much of it isn’t glued directly to the background.

The popcorn bucket was so much fun to layer! I used two shades of yellow for the kernels and added Stickles glitter to their edges for sparkle. For sentiments, I fussy cut “Admit One” from a patterned paper sheet and tucked it along the base, overlapping slightly with the popcorn for a seamless design. Then I pulled in strips from the SSS Birthday EZ Sentiment Sheets—“Cheers to a Very Happy Birthday” went on the Ferris wheel, and “It’s Time to Party” was tucked playfully into one of the popcorn kernels.

Finally, to hold the easel in place, I created a stopper inside the card by layering strips of patterned and black cardstock. This subtle lift keeps the easel standing upright and makes the card perfect for display.

And there you have it—an interactive, whimsical fun fair–themed easel card that’s full of color, sparkle, and personality! I love how the Ferris wheel and popcorn bucket capture that festive fairground vibe, while the easel mechanism makes this card extra special for birthdays or celebrations. Best of all, it fits perfectly into a standard A2 envelope, making it easy to gift and delightful to receive.

I hope this project inspires you to try creating your own easel cards and to mix and match dies, patterned papers, and sentiments in playful ways. If you’ve never made one before, give it a try—it’s easier than it looks, and the results are always so rewarding.
