Diwali — the festival of lights — is all about joy, color, and sparkle! And what better way to celebrate than by sharing a little handmade happiness? In today’s project, I’m creating three bright and beautiful Diwali cards inspired by the vibrant hues of traditional Rangoli patterns. These designs are simple, quick to mass-produce, and perfect for spreading festive cheer to family and friends.

When it comes to mass-producing cards, I like to keep the design simple yet striking. For this set, I reached for the Leaf Burst stencil by Altenew, which beautifully mimics the look of a Rangoli — one of the most iconic symbols of Diwali celebrations.

To begin, I prepped three panels measuring 4 x 5¼ inches each and pulled out my Positively Saturated Inks by Simon Says Stamp. These inks blend like a dream with the Altenew blending brushes, giving a smooth, vibrant finish every single time.

  • For the first card, I went with a radiant trio of Citrine, Sweets, and Amethyst, blending them outward to create a soft, glowing burst of color.
  • The second panel features a cool-toned combination of Iris and Amethyst, blended side-by-side for a striking two-tone effect.
  • And finally, for the third card, I used my all-time favorite combo — Sherbet and Sweets — to create a warm pink-and-orange background that feels perfectly festive.

Before lifting the stencil, I gave each background a light mist of Frosty Shimmer Spray, adding the most delicate touch of sparkle. To take it up a notch, I also splattered gold and copper metallic watercolor across the panels — because what’s Diwali without a little extra shine?

Once the panels were dry, I adhered them onto top-folding A2 card bases using liquid glue. I kept the design flat for easy mailing, but foam tape would be a great option if you’d like a bit of dimension.

For the finishing touch, I added a sentiment strip that reads “Happy Diwali to you and your family” from the Festivals of India stamp set by Crafty Scrapers. I heat embossed the sentiment in gold on black cardstock, which ties in perfectly with the metallic accents on the cards.

And there you have it — a trio of colorful, sparkly, and joyful Diwali cards that perfectly capture the spirit of the season! I love how the vibrant blends, shimmer, and gold details come together to reflect the warmth and light of Diwali.

These cards are proof that you don’t need elaborate supplies to create something beautiful — just a few inks, a stencil, and a little sparkle!
