As card makers, we send so much love through handmade cards all year long, and winter is the perfect season to create something truly cozy and heartfelt. For today’s project, I wanted to design a clean and simple winter card that feels warm, magical, and full of charm. Using an older favorite from Altenew—the Winter Village Die Set—I created a tiny winter scene that’s perfect for sending love and hugs to family, friends, and our amazing crafty community.

I started by die-cutting all the tiny pieces from colorful cardstock rather than white cardstock with ink blending. Using vibrant shades really helped bring this little village to life. For the house, I chose a soft baby pink paired with a beautiful Mirri sparkle cardstock for the roof and doors. The trees were cut from a light green cardstock, and I added subtle shading along the edges using Altenew’s Lettuce Celebrate ink to create depth and dimension.

The night sky was cut from a rich Caribbean blue cardstock, and I lightly ink blended a darker shade along the top using Ride the Wave ink, keeping the lower portion untouched to preserve that mountain detail. To add interest, I lightly misted the sky with silver shimmer spray for a soft, starry-night effect. For falling snow, I used Altenew’s Pure White spray, gently tapping it onto the panel for delicate splatters.
Before assembling the scene, I stamped the sentiment “Sending Love and Hugs” from the Flourishing Garden stamp set. I love the delicate font—it pairs perfectly with this tiny winter village. Using my stamping platform and Versafine Onyx Black ink, I stamped the sentiment twice for a bold, crisp impression.

Once everything was ready, I assembled the scene by layering the sky and adding the houses and trees with thin foam tape for just a hint of dimension. The warm glow behind the windows, created with Canary Yellow shimmer cardstock, adds such a cozy and inviting feel. I mounted the finished panel onto a top-folding A2 card base made from the same baby pink cardstock used for the house, keeping the entire design balanced and cohesive.
