I’m excited to share a fun card-making project featuring one gorgeous background stamp and two completely different techniques! Using Simon’s new release, I created two unique card panels—one soft and subtle, and the other bold and colorful—showing just how versatile a single stamp can be.

For the first panel, I used the embossed resist technique. I stamped the Gerbera Daisy Background with clear embossing powder on a white panel, then ink blended gorgeous shades of pink and purple over it.

The embossed design resists the ink, creating a beautiful glossy daisy pattern that pops against the soft, blended background. To add even more interest, I splattered gold and black accents across the panel, giving it a little extra depth and dimension. This technique is perfect for creating multiple cards quickly in a variety of color combinations.

For the second panel, I tried alcohol marker coloring. Using the same background stamp but with black embossing, I selectively colored rows of flowers with shades of pink and purple from my Ohuhu markers, leaving some flowers black and white for contrast.

I also added green to a few leaves, creating a dynamic look that really makes the flowers pop. The variation in color gives each bloom its own personality, while the black-and-white background provides a striking backdrop. This panel can even be used as a framed piece, making it a versatile project for practicing no-line coloring techniques.

For sentiments, I used Simon’s EZ sentiment strips and a few stamped sentiments from their Thank You sets. On the embossed resist panel, I added a “Thinking of You” strip to coordinate with the soft pinks and purples, while on the colored panel, I stamped “Thank you for the flowers. We appreciate you.” on black cardstock with white embossing powder to match the boldness of the flowers. I also added partial stamping on the inside of the cards with the same pink and purple inks, creating a beautiful ombre effect that ties the inside sentiment to the card front. A few Positively Dazzling Gems and a touch of glitter on the colored flowers were all it took to finish these cards.

I love how one background stamp can give you two completely different looks, each with its own charm. These techniques are easy to replicate, versatile, and perfect for spring, friendship, or just-because cards. Be sure to check out Simon’s new “In My Heart” release for even more gorgeous stamps, dies, and embellishments to pair with these projects.
