Today I stepped a little out of my comfort zone and explored something more loose, colorful, and experimental using the Artists’ Watercolor Tubes from Altenew.

I started by swatching all the vibrant shades — from bold red and bright yellow to lush greens, deep blues, and a beautiful violet. Each color was incredibly pigmented and still kept that soft watercolor transparency, which made them so fun to work with.
At first, I planned to use them in my usual clean floral coloring style, but the colors inspired me to switch things up completely. I ended up creating a messy ink-smushed background using all the same watercolor shades for a more organic, textured look.

Once the background was built, I stamped a floral image and realized it was getting a little lost in all the color. So I layered the same watercolor tones more intensely over the image to help it stand out against the background.
To finish, I added white watercolor splatters for softness and trimmed the panel down to complete the card.
This project was a great reminder that not everything has to be controlled or perfect — sometimes the most fun happens when you just experiment and let the process guide you.
