Today I’m sharing a card that combines one of my favorite color combinations—pinks and oranges—with a simple technique for incorporating metallic cardstock into your cardmaking projects.

GIVEAWAY DETAILS LISTED BELOW –

For this card, I used the Altenew Arabesque Medallion collection to create a bold focal point featuring gold heat embossing, layered stencil ink blending, and beautiful 3D embossing. The warm pink and orange tones were paired with a soft teal background to create a striking contrast that really helps the medallion stand out.

The star of today’s project, however, is the metallic shadow layer technique. If you’ve ever felt intimidated by metallic cardstock, this is a great way to start using it. Instead of making the metallic cardstock the focal point, I used Brushed Rose Metallic Cardstock as an offset shadow layer behind both the medallion and sentiment. This creates a subtle hint of shine and dimension without overwhelming the design.

To finish the card, I added black and gold splatters, layered the sentiment with matching colors, and assembled everything onto an A2 card base. The combination of vibrant colors, elegant gold embossing, and soft metallic accents resulted in a card that feels both bold and sophisticated.

I hope today’s project inspires you to pull out your metallic cardstock and give this easy shadow layer technique a try. Be sure to watch the accompanying video tutorial for all the details and let me know what color combinations you would use for this beautiful medallion design!
